What is LEAF?
A secure, feature-rich, customizable embedded Linux network appliance for use in a variety of network topologies. Although it can be used in other ways; it's primarily used as a Internet gateway, router, firewall, and wireless access point.
Project Goals: Create an inclusive environment where LEAF project members and the extended community are free to release content to the public. Support continued development of current LEAF releases/branches. Create new LEAF releases/branches with current Linux kernels and libraries, while retaining the option to install the target environment on various devices attached to the target. Maintain as small a footprint as possible for release/branch target installations. Promote creation of packages usable by all LEAF releases/branches.

- Second beta version for Bering-uClibc 3.1.1 is available
-
The second beta version provides usual upstream updates (e.g. dnsmasq, dropbear, busybox and a kernel update to a new minor version), as well as enhancements mainly provided by other LEAF developers, like work on web configuration, multilink ppp support, IMQ patches etc...
See the Changelog for more details.

- Impact of the Debian OpenSSL vulnerability
-
Software packages (namely openssl, sshd, dropbear and openvpn) build for LEAF Bering-uClibc are not affected by the recently found Debian OpenSSL vulnerability. So keys generated on a LEAF Bering-uClibc router are secure.
Anyway, a Bering-uClibc router can be compromised, if you use keys build on one of the insecure systems (Debian, Ubuntu, etc), e.g. to login via ssh and authorized keys.
So please doublecheck your router(s) and replace any vulnerable keys and certificates.

- LEAF Bering-uClibc 3.1 is finally available
-
After nearly a year of development a new stable version of Bering-uClibc is ready for download. The most notable changes since 3.0 are an update to a newer kernel version (2.4.34) and the addition of openntpd to the base image.
As usual core packages were updated to their latest versions, and webconf has been improved by Mats E Andersson.
We hope you enjoy it.
